The Debut, or What? Period is one of the periods of the xkcd comic Time. It is the first Period in the Pre-expansion Era and lasted from frame 1 to 9.
For the first several frames, the nature of the comic was unknown. It was only after several newpix passed that it was understood that the comic would update on a regular basis, not merely loop or some such.
